TRUNK TOOL - C REATE THE INITIAL PROPOSITION STATEMENT

Reason for Use

How often have you dismissed a solution without really understanding it? Quite often? The purpose of this tool is to have your team state their idea in a simple way that others can comprehend. By taking a few minutes to craft your idea into a proposition statement, you can help people to understand it and so potentially accept it more easily.

Action to Take

Imagine the idea is to develop software for a card payment terminal that will enable sellers to offer currency conversion to cardholders at the point of sale.

Split the group into small teams.

Each team develops a statement using “Who? What? Why? Where? When? & How?” as a catalyst. As a general rule your proposition should include the following: The problem the proposition solves

Who wants or needs it / Whom it will impact

A description of the solution, explaining how it solves the problem (benefits) and how much of the problem it solves

How it differs from competing products.
